Tierra Nueva: Pictures

Objective:

Tierra Nueva is centralized around an organic garden in the town of San José la Nueva, located on the edge of the beautiful Lake Petén. We intend to transform this site in to a Sustainable Living Educational Center for the local and international community, with a restaurant that will help to support the project. We hope that this garden serves as an example of appropriate municpal solid waste management,which is the key to the sustainability of the community. Our vision is to pass on this knowledge of self-sufficient living to the locals, youth, and anyone else willing to learn!

We use several forms of composting to transform organic waste in to "new earth¨, which is fed back into our garden and rewards us with its fruits. We encourage the propogation of regional edible plants and emphasize the importance of utilizing all waste to assist with our goal of living harmoniously with Nature.
